This very spot is where Ansel Adams once stood, in 1942, when he captured one of his most famous images of the Tetons. His black-and-white photograph helped shape the world’s view of America’s wild beauty, solidifying this landscape as a symbol of pristine wilderness. Knowing I was standing where he had worked felt like being part of something timeless. The air was cool on this Spring day and I could hear the sound of cars driving past on the adjacent highway, that was surprisingly close. In spite of the cars, everything felt calm, as I gazed at the view before me. The light of morning had already illuminated the peaks, so that the snow cap appeared to be illuminated. I set up my camera, feeling my anticipation build. I had specifically chosen to be here in the early morning hoping the river would still be relatively still. The river mirroring the jagged mountain peaks in perfect symmetry. The click of my camera soon grabbed my attention away from the traffic each time I exposed a different shot.
