Lake Harriet Full Moon Print: Minneapolis Minnesota Wall Art

From $33.75 · fulfilled through Etsy

Are you the kind of person that gets excited when there’s a super moon coming soon? I also take note and whenever I can I try to get out to photograph the event. On this occasion I decided to stick close to home and set out for nearby Lake Harriet in Minneapolis. I paced along the water, looking for an appealing composition. The challenge was finding a foreground that would add interest—something that would tell the story of this night. An added difficulty was calculating exactly where the moon would appear above the horizon. I focused on the moored sailboats and tried to find an interesting grouping. As I set up my camera by the shore, a light breeze rippled across the lake. The chatter of people out for an evening walk as they passed by kept me company. I noticed a few other photographers setting up in other spots up and down the shore. Then, the sky deepened to indigo, and suddenly, there it was. The super moon peaking above the distant tree line. I rushed to adjust my position slightly, calculating the position of the moon as it got higher. Eventually the entire moon was visible—a massive, pale orange sphere—casting a shimmering path across the lake. I focused my shot and heard the satisfying click of the shutter as I captured the moment. It seemed to me that all of us watching along the shore were momentarily held captive by the moon’s quiet magic. Production and Shipping Time: 5 days for printing, 5 days for shipping.
